The band got their first big break when Frank Zappa saw them playing at the Whiskey A Go Go club in LA.
He signed them to an album deal in 1969.
They released the album"Pretties For You".
The band soon after got signed by Warner Brothers records and in 1971 released their first major album
"Love it to Death".

The Hit single from the album was "I'm Eighteen".
ThTheir trailblazing stage theatrics of shock and horror and Glittering stage outfits stood out against the other bands
who were still in thier hippiedom.

It wasn't until the following year 1972 that the world would know Alice Cooper,
when the LP and single "Schools Out" arrived and the single was a top ten hit in the US and a number 1 in the UK.

ThiThe follow up was the song "Elected" along with a promo film which was years ahead of its time.
In 1973 the LP " Billion Dollar Babies" when released became a US and UK number 1!

Two more hit singles came along with "Hello Hurray" and " No More Mr Nice Guy".
With all this success under their belt the group toured the world and many politicians tried to ban tthe stage act.
Which consisted of live snakes, chopping the heads of dolls with guillotines and just being totally outrageous.
This all helped to enhance the publics interest in the band but mainly the man himself "Alice".
In 1974 the band split and Alice continued with his own solo career.
However there became ha legal dispute over the name of "Alice Cooper" was it the bands name or the man?
The man "Alice" won and he changed his name by deed pole to "Alice Cooper".

In 1975 he made a tv special with classic horror actor "Vincent Price" called "Nightmare"it was the first video album.
By 1977 everyone had noticed that he had a severe drinking problem and was hospitalized for treatment.
He has since become to this day T-Total.
One of his great friends during the 70s was the great "Groucho Marx" and in tribute to him had the famous Hollywood sign remodelled with the aid of many hollywood friends.
During the 80s and 90s he released many succesful albums and toured extensively.
However the success of the 70s would not be recaptured.
Today he still performs but has also turned his hand to being an avid Golfer.
Alice has recently taken part in the UK celebrity golf tournaments.
