Brian Ferry - Vocals/Harmonica/Keyboards
Phil Manzanera - Guitar
Andy Mackay - Sax and Oboe
Paul Thompson -Drums.

Eddie Jobson - Synthesizer and Violin. KeyKey
In 1970/ 71 Brian Ferry (who was a ceramics teacher at this time))
gathered together a group of musicians tto form a band. o
He decided to call the band Roxy named after some dance halls of the time.
However upon realising that an american group had the same name he called it Roxy Music. f
They recorded their first album together "Roxy Music"
and released their debut single,"Virginia Plain in 1972.


Roxy's style was very different to any other band.
This song was typical of the bands inventiveness and highly literate lyrics.
Ferry also had an outstanding image and persona.
Dressed in glittering outfits they performed Virginia Plain on Top of the Pops
helping it to peak at no 4 in the UK.rm


This was The follow up was "Pyjamarama" also a top ten hit. band

After Roxy's second Album "For your Pleasure" in 1973 Brian Eno left.
He wasn't happy with the direction of the group.
He was replaced By Eddie Jobson.
The next two albums Stranded (1973) and Country Life in 1974 are widely regarded
as being some of the most original and consistent British rock lp's of the era.


Brian Ferry began his solo career in 1973 with the song "These Foolish Things".
However he was still remained a full member of Roxy Music.
Manzanera and Mackay also did solo projects with Paul Thompson on Drums.

1975 saw the release of the album Siren which contained their only US hit "Love Is The Drug".
A major influence in Brian's life at this time was his relationship with model Jerry Hall.
She was pictured on the front cover of the lp
and was also in the video of his solo single "Lets Stick Together".
During 1976 Roxy temporarily disbanded.
However both Thompson and Manzanera both played on Ferry's solo effots of that time.
They reunited in 1978 and released the Manifesto album but with are reshuffled line up.
It was evident that the music changed and became very smooth sounding.
1981 saw them have a number 1 with the tribute to John Lennon one of Ferry's closest friends,
who had sadly just been murdered at the hands of a fan.

The 1The 1982 release Avalon was a massive success and after a tour in 1983
Brian dissolved the band and continued with his solo career.
2001 saw Roxy Music reunite without Brian Eno for their 30th anniversary.
They are still touring and performing today and are due to release an album of new material this year 2006.
Brian Ferry and Roxy Music are one of the most influential bands of all time.
Their contribution to music is outstanding.
We await the new album with great enthuseasm.
