In 1974 a five piece rock band from North london called "Chuff"

were supporting "The Troggs"at Middlesex polytechnic.

Their agent at the time was discussing them with songwriters Martin and Coulter

who he knew was looking for a group to promote some new songs.

One which was called "The Bump" had recently entered the charts under the name of KENNY,

which was really Phil Coultier on vocals and a remixed backing track from the" Bay City Rollers".

Problem was they desperately needed a group to be Kenny!

It was put to Chuff that if they became Kenny they would have instant stardom

and would appear on the number one music show "Top of The Pops".

They agreed and felt that they needed a better lead singer to go with a new image.

Therefore Rick Driscoll arrived on the scene.

The Bump reached number 3 in the UK in 1974 released on the RAK label.

Their follow up in 1975 was the song "Fancy Pants" and this reached number 4.

The band then had their own 'K' logo which was very similar to that of kellogs!

Two more hits followed with "Baby I Love You Ok" and their last UK hit "Julie Ann"

which reached number 10 in that year.

Early in 1976 Kenny released their first album " The Sound Of Super K".

It only got to number 56 in the UK but reached number 12 in Germany.

Shortly after the release of this album they left Martin/ Coultier and RAK records

Kenny signed with the polydor label releasing the single"Hot Lips".

Sadly it failed to chart in Britain but was a hit in Europe.

Kenny released a further 3 more singles and an album entitled "Ricochet".

These were only released in Germany as they were having more success over there.

In 1977 two new members were recruited,Bassist Dave Bowkers and Keyboardist Ian Culey.

The New music of Punk and new wave had just exploded on the scene leaving the band to call it a day.

During the 1990s a group claiming to be Kenny started playing 70s revival shows,

(much to the amusement of the original group)

however no original members of the band participated.
